We have experience of contract negotiations and disputes involving a range of public bodies, including the UK and Dubai Governments, regional development authorities, local authorities, and NHS primary and secondary healthcare trusts.
We are familiar with the audit requirements attaching to the deployment of public funds for works or disputes.
At the top of the contractual chain, we have experience of advising NHS clients in numerous LIFT schemes and conventional construction projects. Our claimant professional negligence experience has included a number of claims by public sector bodies against their architects and engineers.
In the middle of the contractual chain, we have experience of challenging the certificates of the local authority's engineer on behalf of the main contractor and preparing a reference to arbitration.
At the lower end of the contractual chain, we have run a claim on behalf of a subcontractor against a local authority arising out of a framework agreement to which they were both signatories.
Internally, we have acted for a number of employees with race discrimination and unfair dismissal claims against local authority and NHS employers. In the majority of these cases, the dispute was resolved with the employee able to continue to work for the employer. We are keen to extend our mediation offering into this area.
