Stage 4: Defended Claims

All of the above situations are based on the action being un-defended.
If the debtor acknowledges service of the claim, enters a defence or makes any other interim application, then the action becomes a “defended” claim and will require additional work not covered by the above fees.
This additional work, including negotiation and settlement, will be charged at our standard hourly rate of £200 plus VAT.
If and when the claim becomes “defended” we will set out the additional steps required and provide you with further fee estimates for your approval before we carry out any additional work.

VAT
The above figures are all expressed as exclusive of VAT. VAT, where applicable, will be charged on our fees at 20%.
No VAT is payable on the court fees charged by the court that you have to pay for separately.
Invoices
Please be aware that invoices are issued to you at the end of the month for all work carried out in that month. Our invoices are payable on receipt.
Costs on Account
When commencing work for you, we may ask you to pay in advance for some or all of the fee for the relevant Stage. At the end of the month we will send you a VAT invoice.
