Kate Gould
Kate Gould heads up our property law work. After qualifying in 1997 and gaining 7 years' experience at Nicholson Graham & Jones, a highly regarded City firm now forming the London office of K&L Gates, she took a career break to raise three children and manage the extension of her London house. She quickly found ways to volunteer in her local community, supporting new mothers as part of the local NCT branch, leading a residents' judicial review of a planning permission in her road, and helping elderly neighbours to move out of their dilapidated house and into a flat.
Kate joined Thea Ltd in December 2015. She has already introduced several new clients to the firm and has worked on a wide variety of commercial and residential matters. Kate advises on all types of issues concerning residential property and has particular experience acting for joint freehold owners on management issues, where Peter Webster's construction law expertise may also be relevant. However, Thea Limited is not a member of the Conveyancing Quality Scheme and does not offer a residential conveyancing service.
Separately from her work as a solicitor, since early 2014 Kate has been working with the (East) London Community Land Trust, liaising with the CLT's external solicitors and helping with negotiations on the agreement for lease, lease and other documents for their first project, 23 new build flats on the St Clements Hospital site on Bow Road, E3. As a co-optee to the Board, she has also helped with the updating of the CLT's rules and taken an active part in discussions about the underlying principles of the CLT's work and development of the policies for allocation and management of the permanently affordable homes.
She speaks fluent French and German, sings in the City Chamber Choir and plays the violin.
